Abstract
This research investigates the definition and content of strategy, addressing a gap in the literature where previous attempts—despite their scarcity—have been predominantly theoretical, relying on conceptual dialogues and early intellectual frameworks. The study is based on a selected set of dimensions relevant to strategic concept and content, utilizing a purposive sample that includes specialized Jordanian university professors and practitioners in strategic planning and policy, alongside a counterpart group of general managers from major corporations who possess the expertise to execute strategic choices. Participants collaborated in prioritizing the strategic dimensions included in a specially designed survey instrument. The findings focus on highlighting the relative weight and significance of each dimension in defining strategy, while identifying the areas of divergence and consensus between the perspectives of academics and practitioners regarding the conceptualization and substance of strategy.
