يعد الفساد احد العوائق أمام النمو الاقتصادي وتحقيق فرص الاستثمار وأخطرها بعد الاستقرار الأمني، أن الفساد يعصف بالاقتصاد العراقي بشكل ملفت للنظر وله جذور منذ عقد الثمانينات من القرن المنصرم الى يومنا هذا.
تستهدف الدراسة التعرف عملياً على تأثير الفساد على الاستثمار في الاقتصاد العراقي وكشف الإمكانات وعوائق الاستثمار في العراق وتوضيح الفرص الاستثمارية على مستوى العراق واثر الفساد في الاستثمارات .
وسيتم التركيز على بيان حجم الفساد والاستثمار في العراق وباعتماد اسلوب القياس الاقتصادي باستخدام بيانات مقطعية لكل من نسبة الفساد والتخصيصات الاستثمارية في الوزارات العراقية لعام 2007.وبينت نتائج الدراسة وجود اثر سلبي للفساد على الاستثمار وهذا يتفق مع منطق النظرية الاقتصادية والقياسية
