تتمحور مشكلة البحث على محدودية اهتمام الشركات الصناعية العراقية في تطبيق مقاييس علمية لأداء سلسلة تجهيزها، وسعى البحث إلى تحقيق مجموعة أهداف أهمها تشخيص نقاط القوة والضعف في واقع سلسلة التجهيز، واقتراح التوصيات المناسبة لمعالجتها في الشركة العامة للصناعات القطنية. وجمعت البيانات والمعلومات المطلوبة من سجلات الشركة المعتمدة من خلال المشاهدات الميدانية، واستخدمت بعض المؤشرات الكمية لقياس أداء سلسلة التجهيز، وتوصل البحث لعدة استنتاجات أبرزها وجود علاقة ارتباط عكسية قوية بين متغيرات سلسلة التجهيز، وركزت التوصيات على ضرورة بناء علاقات وثيقة مع المجهزين، زيادة اهتمام الشركة بسلسلة التجهيز التي تبدأ من المجهز إلى الزبون وتثقيف العاملين والمديرين بشكل خاص على التحول من إدارة المواد إلى إدارة سلسلة التجهيز واتخاذ الإجراءات الصحيحة في التجهيز، والاهتمام بالبيع ومنافذ التوزيع .
