خلال الممارسات اليومية للإنسان ينتج النفايات بمختلف انواعها , والتي باتت تشكل خطرا على صحته والبيئة المحيطة به , وخاصة بعد ازدياد كمياتها نتيجة النمو السكاني والتطور التكنولوجي , وهنا جاءت الحاجة لتدوير النفايات الصلبة باعتبارها احد المفاهيم الحديثة التي تحقق فوائد بيئية واقتصادية واجتماعية , ويهدف البحث لتقييم مشروع فرز وتدوير النفايات الصلبة في قضاء المحمودية وهل عمله مستدام , ومطابق للمعايير الحديثة , باستعمال قوائم الفحص المعيارية لتحديد الفجوة بين الواقع العملي الحالي للمعمل ومتطلبات تلك المعايير , باستعمال منهج دراسة الحالة باعتباره اكثر المناهج ملائمة مع مشكلة البحث , وتم التوصل الى عدة استنتاجات اهمها معمل الفرز والتدوير في قضاء المحمودية غير مستدام ولم يحقق ارباح مادية خلال مدة البحث .
