تعنى هذه الدراسة بالاحوال الاقتصادية للمعيشة في مدينة الموصل. وتكمن اهميتها في تناولها لهذا الجانب الحساس في مدة حرجة (2002-2007) تضمنت احداثا وتداعيات اجتماعية واقتصادية وسياسية كبيرة. ومن اهم النتائج التي خرجت بها، ان معدل النمو في المدينة خلال مدة الدراسة كان اقل مما هو عليه في سائر المراكز الحضرية الاخرى في العراق. فضلا عن ان متوسط الدخل الحقيقي لم يحقق تحسنا ملحوظا. بينما انخفض بالمقابل مستوى التفاوت في توزيع الدخول. هذا وان النسبة الاكبر من سكان الموصل يعتمدون في دخولهم على الاجور والرواتب، ما يجعل مستوى معيشة الاسرة والفرد يتاثر كثيرا بتغيرات معدلات البطالة التي لم تنخفض خلال المدة 2004-2007 الا بنسبة انخفاض طفيفة
