صمم البحث لدراسة العلاقة بين أستراتيجية التصنيع ومرونته في ظل نظام التصنيع المرن وأنعكاس ذلك على الأداء التنافسي للمنشأة في بيئة أعمالها. ولأجل تفسير مشكلة البحث والتحقق من أمكانية معالجتها، صيغت فرضية رئيسة نصت على "أن الاداء التنافسي للمنشأة تفسره أستراتيجية التصنيع ومرونته المستمدة من أعمال المنشأة وأستراتيجيتها بأطار نظام التصنيع المرن". وبعد ان جرى التحليل لما تمخضت عنه الأدبيات المختصة من طروحات نظرية اغنت المضمون الفكري للبحث، أستخدمت دراسة "الحالة الأيضاحية " لأسناد الروابط الفكرية بين متغيرات البحث والأتساق القائم بينها، فضلا عن التحقق من صحة فرضيته بتحليل واقع نظام التصنيع المرن في شركة Toyota Motors اليابانية العاملة في مجال صناعة السيارات العالمية. وقد تم التوصل الى مجموعة أستنتاجات تتفق في جوهرها على صحة فرضية البحث ومنطقيتها.
