ان موضوع 6 Sigma من الموضوعات الحديثة في الفكر الإداري وتزايد الاهتمام به مع نهاية القرن الماضي وبداية القرن الحالي واثبت نجاحهُ على الصعيد التطبيقي في المنظمات على اختلاف أنواعها. لذلك ظهرت الحاجة إلى دراسة إمكانية تطبيقه في المنظمات العراقية كأسلوب لحل المشاكل فيها.
تألفت عينة البحث من مجموعة من العاملين في كل من الشركة (العامة للصناعات الجلدية والشركة العامة للمنظومات) وعلى اختلاف مستوياتهم الإدارية والوظيفية وقد تم استخدام الاستبانة كأداة لجمع المعلومات بلغ عددها (42) استبانة وبواقع (21) استبانة في كل من الشركتين المذكورتين أعلاه.
وقد توصل البحث إلى وجود فروق معنوية بين الشركتين في تطبيق أبعاد Sigma 6 بالإضافة إلى وجود عوامل حرجة تمثل أساس لنجاح أو عدم نجاح التطبيق.
