ان الهدف الرئيس من هذا البحث هو تحديد الوقت الامثل للصيانة الوقائية على المكائن حيث تم اعتماد اسلوبين في تقدير المدة الزمنيه المثلى للصيانة الوقائية. يعتمد الاسلوب الاول على جدولة الصيانة من خلال الاعتماد على معلومات تخص كلف الصيانه وكلف التوقف عن الانتاج والوصول الى الوقت الامثل للصيانة والذي يحقق اقل الكلف .اما الاسلوب الثاني فانه يعتمد على دالة المعولية حيث تم من خلالها تحديد فترة الصيانة المثلى والتي تكون عندها الكلفة اقل ما يمكن. ان الاسلوبين الذين تم الاعتماد عليهما اعطتنا نفس النتائج مما يعطي اعتمادية كبيرة للنتائج كونها اثبتت باكثر من طريقة وكذلك اثبتنا من خلال هذا البحث ان طريقة الجدوله افضل من طريقة الاعتماد على دالة المعولية رغم وحدانية النتائج .
