يسعى البحث الى تبني منهج معرفي معاصر يربط بين استراتيجية العمليات والتغيير او التحديث الكنولوجي المطلوب في المسارات الانتاجية للمنظمات الصناعية اعتمادا على موشرات عملية تتعلق بالاسبقيات التنافسية التي تمثل اهدافا لاداء العمليات،وقد استند البحث على مخطط فرضي اعتمد في بنائه على فرضية اساسية ركزت على انه (يتحدد التغيير التكنولوجي بتطور الاسيقيات التنافسية لتشخيص مستوى التدهور المتحقق في المسار التكنولوجي الحالي مقارنة بالقادة المنافسين- قادة التكنولوجيا).
وجرى تطبيق هذه الافكار على حالة افتراضية لمصنعين يتشابهان في طبيعة انتاجهما ومسارتهما التكنولوجية وتتسمان بالمنافسة فيما بينهما ليمكن التوصل الى نتائج عملية تثبت صحة اعتماد موشرات وعناصر استراتيجية العمليات لاغراض اجراء التغيير والتحديث التكنولوجي.
