تتعرض الاقتصادات العربية الى تحديات وضغوط كبيرة ، تأتي في مقدمتها الثورة العلمية والتكنولوجية، والعولمة الاقتصادية، وظاهرة التكتلات الاقتصادية الدولية والاقليمية، ولاسيما بعد بروز ملامح جديدة للنظام الاقتصادي العالمي الجديد، ومارافقه من اتساع وتسارع في العلاقات الاقتصادية والتجارية فيما بين دول العالم المختلفة، وفي تسريع اندماجات الاقتصادات الوطنية بالاقتصاد العالمي بما يتطلب من الاقتصادات العربية وهي تواجه التحديات للعمل على تحديد خياراتها المستقبلية وبما يجعلها قادرة على استثمار الاثار الايجابية لهذه المتغيرات والتكيف معها وتلافي الاثار السلبية او تخفيف حدتها.
